In this cooking class you will not only get to know a new cuisine but you will gain an authentic insight into the Namibian culture and its people. Learn about farming of crops in a desert climate and train your whole body preparing the traditional porridge. Vegetarians are very welcome to see that Namibia has much more to offer than great steaks.

Itinerary and highlights

We will introduce you to the authentic traditional Namibian meals that are prepared and eaten on a daily basis. We will start to teach you how to make the staple food "pap" - a porridge made from Mahangu. During the preparations you will learn about farming and storage of Mahangu. In addition, we will prepare not only classic beef on a "braai" (=BBQ) but adventurous guest can try various delicacies such as goat head (known as "Smilie") or Mopane worms. For vegatarian guests we can prepare local spinach and Marula fruits.
Most important you will meet Namibians in their homes and will be able to exchange stories over some local beers and traditional drinks. The activity is perfect to experience authentic Namibian culture. Children are very welcome.
